Good morning, The Woodlands.

Fridays in fall are hard to beat, especially when the week looks like this one. Thousands of neighbors walked for Alzheimer’s research at Town Green Park last Saturday, students from right here are on this year’s Grammy ballot and performing tonight at Market Street, and a professional headshot in 20 minutes is available next week for anyone who needs one. On a more personal note, November 1 is Día de los Fieles Difuntos, a day our family honors, and Cantona Homestead is hosting a beautiful celebration of that tradition right here in the area. We are glad it has a home here.

Glad you’re here,

The Woodlands Walk to End Alzheimer’s Brings Neighbors Together at Town Green Park

Walkers bundled in layers filled Town Green Park on a chilly Saturday morning, Oct. 17, for the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's in The Woodlands. Neighbors from The Woodlands, North Houston, North Harris County, and Montgomery County walked side by side, and the Alzheimer's Association Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter reported raising more than $585,000.

According to the event page, 2,437 participants on 329 teams registered, and the walk has already passed its fundraising goal. Registration is free, and all funds raised support the Alzheimer's Association's care, support, and research efforts.

Many walkers carried flowers from the Promise Garden, a walk tradition in which each color tells a story. Purple honors someone lost to Alzheimer's, yellow represents a caregiver, blue stands for someone living with the disease, and orange marks a supporter of the cause.

Why it matters: every flower in The Woodlands Promise Garden on Oct. 17 carried a name. $585,000 raised and 2,437 walkers here means this community doesn't just show up for neighbors in good times.

🌳 Woodlands Trivia

Construction on The Woodlands Waterway began in 1999 and the canal didn't open until 2004. What is now the community's main dining and entertainment corridor started as an engineering solution to stormwater management. The aesthetic came later.

🤠 Talkin' Texan

“Slower than molasses in January.” Translation: moving at a pace that’ll test anyone’s patience. Molasses in January doesn’t pour. It barely exists.
