Good morning, The Woodlands.
Picture Trinity Episcopal on Nov. 17, with neighbors of different faiths sharing music, dance and art. Picture a box of new toys at a local fire station, waiting for a family that needs them. Today’s issue has a little of both, ways to gather and ways to give. We are thankful to share this season with you.
Glad you’re here,
—Erika & Mike

Different Faiths Share Music, Dance and Art at a Free Nov. 17 Event
FaithsTogether will hold its 28th Annual Community Observance on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Trinity Episcopal, 3901 S. Panther Creek Drive. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program starts at 7. It is free, open to the public and family friendly.
This year’s theme, “United in Freedom of Faith,” ties into America’s 250th anniversary. Participating religious communities share their faith through music, dance, words and art during the Thanksgiving season, and the observance moves to a different faith venue each year. Guests are invited to bring nonperishable food for the Interfaith of The Woodlands Food Pantry.
Why it matters: It is an evening to hear how neighbors practice their faith, with food donations going to a local pantry.

Interfaith Needs Toys by Dec. 4 and Senior Gift Cards by Nov. 19
Interfaith of The Woodlands is running its annual Holiday GIVING Programs, which the organization says serve “over 11,000 local individuals, families and seniors.” Neighbors can help through Adopt-a-Family, the Holiday Toy Drive or Gifts for Seniors.
The Toy Drive needs new, unwrapped toys by Friday, Dec. 4. Drop-offs are at Interfaith, local fire stations, Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler’s office, and the Kevin Brady Community Center and Library. Gifts for Seniors asks for $50 gift cards to Walmart, Amazon or Target, due by noon Thursday, Nov. 19.
Families and seniors also receive food from the Interfaith Food Pantry and a clothing voucher from the Hand Me Up Shop. The season ends with the Holiday GIVING Dinner and Carols by Candlelight with more than 400 seniors.
Why it matters: Senior gift cards are due first, on Nov. 19, which leaves less than two weeks.

Run Thru The Woods Returns Thanksgiving Morning at the Pavilion
The Run Thru The Woods returns on Thursday, Nov. 26, Thanksgiving Day, at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The races start and finish at 2005 Lake Robbins Drive. The event has run for more than 36 years and draws more than 5,700 participants from across the country each year.
The Children’s One-Mile for ages 2 to 12 starts at 7:30 a.m. The Five-Mile follows at 8:15, and the Three-Mile Race and Walk starts at 8:25. Costumes are encouraged and strollers are welcome. Bicycles and pets are not permitted, with the exception of service animals.
Why it matters: The children’s mile, the walk option and the welcome for strollers make it doable for whole families.

Lone Star College Gives Veterans a Place to Feel at Home
The Lone Star College System serves more than 4,700 veteran students, and its campuses are marking Veterans Day week with events for them.
George McMillon, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and president of the Student Veterans Association at LSC-Kingwood, enrolled after a layoff from a six-month job. The college offers dedicated veterans advisors and a veterans’ space. “It was nice to feel comfortable with people who basically went through the same things I did,” he said. He plans to finish an associate degree in human resources this December.
Veterans Day week events include branch gear day on Nov. 9, a grab-and-go brunch and lunch on Nov. 10, camo day on Nov. 11, a map-where-you-served activity on Nov. 12 and 13, and the Rally Up 5K at LSC-North Harris on Nov. 14.
Why it matters: One student’s story shows what dedicated advisors and a veterans’ space can mean after a layoff.

The Med Spa That Maps Your Face Before It Touches It
Tula Tu Aesthetics is a boutique med spa in The Woodlands, and founder Taliah Williamson starts every client with what she calls “mapping.” The consultation studies your face at rest and in motion. The goal, in her words: “Not what a filter shows you, but you on a good day.”
From there, the plan sorts what to address now, what can wait and what is not needed at all. “Sometimes the answer is skincare, not a syringe.” Services include Xeomin, Daxxify, soft lip fillers, SkinVive, microneedling, VI Peel and Skinbetter Science skincare.
Tula comes from a Zulu lullaby meaning hush, a nod to Williamson’s South African roots. She keeps her schedule small and favors one-on-one care.
Why it matters: A first visit built around listening, and sometimes hearing “You don’t need that.”
