Six indoor padel courts opened on West Lane last Monday, in a sport most of us had not heard of a few years ago. Somebody looked at Magnolia and decided it needed courts, then went and built them. That is most of what is in today's issue: a playground, a gym, a restaurant picking its next corner, and two villages looking for neighbors willing to sit on a committee. None of it arrives on its own.

A New Indoor Playground for Ages 4 to 12 Just Opened in Spring

Happyland Playground held a soft opening at its new location on July 29 and opened to the public with a grand opening on August 2. It sits at 25903 Elmfield Drive, Suite 100, in Spring.
The place is built for kids ages 4 to 12, and it is a sister venue to Happyville, aimed at slightly older children. Inside there are large play structures with climbing towers, netted bridges, tunnels and elevated walkways, plus creative play spaces and padded obstacle areas.
The slides get their own list: a white tube slide, four-lane slides and a spiral staircase slide. There are also trampolines, swings and a giant ball pit.
Parents get a seating area and a snack bar that runs coffee, deli baguettes, pizza, nuggets, corn dogs, mozzarella sticks, Coca-Cola beverages, Icees and Dippin' Dots. There is a private party room for birthdays. The whole thing is indoors and air-conditioned.
Why it matters: on a 100-degree Monday, an indoor place where kids can actually run is worth knowing about.

Six Indoor Padel Courts Just Opened on West Lane in Magnolia
Sportika Woodlands Indoor Padel opened in the Magnolia area on July 27, confirmed by Director Paulina Macias. The business first announced the opening on its Facebook page back on June 7.
The facility has six indoor padel courts and offers professional coaching along with lessons and clinics for all levels, according to its website. It is at 8626 West Lane in Magnolia.
Why it matters: padel keeps finding room here, and this one is indoors, which matters in August.

After 14 Years in Shenandoah, Casa Medina Is Moving to Root Road
Casa Medina Mexican Restaurant is leaving its Shenandoah location at 28777 I-45 North and moving to the Spring area at the end of August. The relocation date is August 31, and the new address is 5706 Root Road.
The restaurant has served Shenandoah for the past 14 years. The menu runs to shrimp tacos, tacos de harina and pollo poblano.
Why it matters: fourteen years in one spot builds a regular crowd, and that crowd now has a new drive.

Two Villages Need Neighbors on Their Design Review Committees

The Woodlands Township is looking for volunteers to fill vacant seats on the Residential Design Review Committees for the Villages of Creekside Park and Indian Springs WCA. To serve, a volunteer has to own property and live in the village they would represent.
Applications are available at thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/RDRC and have to be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 7. They can be dropped off at The Woodlands Township Town Hall at 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard, or mailed to the same address at The Woodlands, TX 77381, and received by the deadline rather than postmarked by it.
Appointments will be made at the committees' regularly scheduled August meetings.
Why it matters: these are the neighbors who decide what your street is allowed to look like, and two villages are short.
