Cindy and Craig Heiser arrived from Dallas in 1999 with a toddler in the back seat. Cindy had been in the Junior League of Dallas, so she transferred her membership, and the Junior League is what introduced her to Interfaith of The Woodlands. She was running Impact at the time, the League's community service arm for teachers. That connection has now lasted more than two decades.

In 2015 she co-chaired Giving Goes Glam, the luncheon and fashion event that came before The Walk, run jointly by the Junior League of The Woodlands and Interfaith. She asked Ann Snyder to join her committee that year, and Snyder went on to pull Cindy and the rest of the committee deeper into Interfaith. Cindy joined the Rotary Club of The Woodlands in 2020 and finished her term as its president in July. She was elected to The Woodlands Township Board of Directors in 2023. She and Craig fostered dogs for about a decade through the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club, taking in orphaned dogs until homes could be found, and she is now involved with Operation Pets Alive.

Craig spent 30 years at Accenture. Around here, though, he is better known for what he wore to The Woodlands High School volleyball games while their daughter played. He started having pants made in the school colors, including one pair with a red leg and a green leg, then a shamrock-covered set he called the Lucky Pants. “He became very famous as The Pants Guy,” Cindy said. His volleyball days are behind him, but he now mentors young people and leads Bible studies at The Ridge Church, and he has gone back to consulting, coaching younger colleagues through the shift to AI.

On Saturday, August 22, the Heisers will walk the runway at Interfaith's The Walk gala as one of five Community Champion couples being honored this year.

GolfTRK, an indoor golf training center, is preparing to open in Oak Ridge North. A project filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows a tenant renovating a 2,228-square-foot space off Robinson Road, at 27605 Robinson Road, Suite B.

The filing puts the start of work on September 7 and completion by November 2. Community Impact notes its story is built on that filing alone and says it will update when more is known.

The company is based in Prairie Village, Kansas, and its website says it has franchised more than 40 locations. Its pitch combines swing-tracking technology with conventional instruction.

Why it matters: a permit filing is the earliest public signal that a vacant suite has a tenant, months before a sign goes up.

Montgomery County Precinct 3, under Commissioner Ritch Wheeler, has eleven road projects running this week across The Woodlands.

Five are concrete rehabilitation work on Research Forest Drive, westbound at East Trillium, both directions at Greenbridge, and westbound at East Alden Bridge. Four more are full asphalt street pavement replacements, on Oakhurst, Baywood Court, Raypine and Spring Pines. The remaining three are asphalt shoulder replacements on Branch Crossing, West Branch Crossing and Cranebrook.

Separately, the golf cart and pedestrian bridge on Sawdust Road just west of South Millbend is being removed and replaced, which is closing lanes. Precinct 3 is explicit that this one is not its crews: the bridge belongs to the golf course, and the work is a private project run by the course and its contractor.

Why it matters: the Research Forest closures land on the road most of us use to get anywhere, and knowing which stretch is torn up saves the detour.

Market Street is still looking for artists for its 2026 Fall Fine Arts Show, and applications close August 31. The show runs Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., free and open to the public, with live music and artist demonstrations alongside the booths.

Organizers are accepting paintings, photography, jewelry, metal work, sculpture, digital art and mixed media. A 10-by-10 tented space costs $150 and a 10-by-20 runs $275. Electricity is limited, offered first come first served for an additional $50, and tables and chairs rent separately. If the weather turns, the show moves to Saturday, October 24.

Applications can be downloaded from the Market Street site or picked up at the Concierge Desk, and completed forms go to John Pearson at Market Street with payment enclosed. Applicants hear back about two weeks after the deadline.

Why it matters: a booth fee and a deadline are the whole barrier between a local artist and a full Saturday of foot traffic.
