The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department is looking for the people who fill the booths. Applications for the 2026 Trick or Treat Trail opened Friday, August 21 at 5 p.m., and they close Wednesday, October 14.

The event itself lands on Sunday, October 25 at the Rob Fleming Recreation Center, from 1 to 5 p.m. Children move booth to booth filling their bags with goodies from roughly 30 local vendors, and the afternoon also carries strolling entertainment, carnival games, costume contests, photo areas and food trucks. It is free to attend, and it draws more than 8,000 residents and visitors a year.

For a business, that number is the pitch. The Township is selling sponsorships alongside the vendor booths, starting at $500 for an Event Sponsor and climbing through Supporting at $1,500, Costume Contest at $2,000, Bag Sponsor at $2,500, and Presenting at $10,000. There is an in-kind tier too, where a business offers services or items instead and works out the specifics with the Special Events team.

Sponsors get press releases pushed to the Township website and to media outlets, plus write-ups in the magazine the Township publishes. The full sponsorship package and the vendor application both live online, linked from the Township's own pages.

Why it matters: two months out is when a Halloween afternoon like this one actually gets built, and right now the list of who is standing behind those 30 tables is still open.

The Woodlands Diversion opens its 2026-27 season on Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m. with a program called American Ecstasies, performed by Trio Duende at The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church. The trio is flutist Tyler Martin, cellist Caio Diniz and pianist James Palmer, and the program runs through work by Kevin Day, Jennifer Higdon, Ned Rorem and Nikolai Kapustin.

Four more programs follow. Lazos on October 10 pulls together Latin American classical, folk, popular and jazz traditions with guest artists alongside the group's own musicians. Wintertide on December 5 mixes Vivaldi, Corelli and Bach with seasonal standards. Motown and Mozart on February 6 puts the two side by side. The season closes May 8, 2027 with Letters to Mom, an original stage work that blends live theater and chamber music around motherhood, scored with music by Jessie Montgomery, Caroline Shaw, Germaine Tailleferre and Rachel Portman among others.

Tickets for the full season are on sale now.

Why it matters: five nights of live chamber music inside the Township, at church-and-community-hall scale rather than arena scale, is a different kind of evening than the Pavilion offers.

Ema Japanese Cuisine set its grand opening for Sunday, August 16, and the centerpiece was a live bluefin tuna cutting at 3 p.m., with owner Henry Zhu and his team breaking down a premium fish in front of the room. The day also carried a one-time omakase tasting menu at $49.99 that was not offered again after the celebration.

The premise is the part worth noticing. Ema runs an all-you-can-eat format but is trying to attach it to the standards of an a la carte kitchen, with sushi, sashimi and hot dishes prepared to order rather than held on a line. “People often associate all-you-can-eat with quantity over quality, and we wanted to completely change that perception,” Zhu said. He has spent close to two decades in Japanese cuisine and has developed several restaurant concepts around Texas.

The regular menu covers handcrafted rolls, premium nigiri, sashimi, appetizers and hot kitchen dishes. Ema is open now for lunch and dinner.

Why it matters: all-you-can-eat and made-to-order usually pull in opposite directions, and whether a room here can hold both is a question a lot of neighbors will happily volunteer to test.

Of the eight Woodlands-area ZIP codes tracked by Christine Hale Realty Group, only two saw median home prices rise over the past year. The steepest move went the other way: 77380 recorded a $261,000 drop in median home price for the month of July, measured against July 2025.

The rest of the picture is softer but pointed in the same direction. The number of new homes sold fell in five ZIP codes and rose in three. Every ZIP code except 77385 saw homes spend more days on the market than a year earlier, and the shortest wait anywhere was 36 days, in 77382.

The busiest slice of the market stayed where it has been all year. Homes in the $200,000 to $399,999 range sold most often, with the $400,000 to $599,999 band close behind. The 77354 ZIP code, which covers part of the Woodlands area, is not included in this data set.

Why it matters: a median is not any one house, but a $261,000 swing in twelve months is the kind of number that changes what a neighbor thinks their own place is worth.
