The Woodlands Township board voted unanimously to approve cell tower installations at Terramont Park, Cattail Park, and the Rob Fleming Recreation Center, the first phase of a broader push to fix cellular dead zones around town. Chief Technology and Innovation Officer William Pham presented the plan alongside Katie Harms of Diamond Communications, the company that will build and manage the towers. A public hearing was required because the towers go on Township parkland.

The 120-foot towers will be built as mono-pines, designed to blend into the tree line instead of standing out as bare steel. Diamond Communications still has to clear environmental, FCC, and FAA reviews before construction starts, expected to take nine to ten months once the leases are signed.

The board passed the motion 6-0 and authorized the Township's President and CEO to sign the lease agreements, pending final legal review. Chairman Brad Bailey was not in attendance.

Encompass Health announced two inpatient rehabilitation projects in Montgomery County: a new 24-bed hospital in Conroe, its first "small-format" location, and a full replacement of its existing Woodlands hospital. The Conroe hospital will run as a satellite of the Woodlands facility and is expected to open in late 2027.

The Woodlands project replaces the current hospital with a new 60-bed building on the same campus, with all private rooms. Construction is planned so the existing hospital keeps treating patients the whole time, with the new building expected to open in 2029. Group president Craig Funk said the investment is meant to keep pace with demand for rehab care north of Houston.

Both hospitals treat patients recovering from strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic conditions, with 24-hour nursing and physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Why it matters: rehab beds closer to home mean less time on the road during recovery, for patients and the families driving them there.

Owner and founder Holly Moore built the business around trained, certified, bonded, and insured cleaners, offering weekly, biweekly, and monthly plans depending on how much upkeep a home needs. The company also handles move-in and move-out cleanings for homeowners and realtors getting a property ready to list.

Every booking sends a team of two cleaners who bring their own supplies and equipment, so clients don't need to provide anything. Director of Marketing Jasmine Creek said one of the most common misunderstandings is customers tidying up before the crew arrives, when handling that is the whole point of hiring them. If something breaks during a cleaning, the company says it's fully bonded and insured and takes responsibility for the damage.

Moore's reach goes beyond her own client list. She also founded Clean Con, a convention built specifically for residential cleaning business owners, held in Austin where Maids and Moore runs a second location. The company's Chief Operating Officer, Roxy Aviles, is speaking at this year's event.

Why it matters: a Houston company built to make busy households easier to manage is also shaping standards across its own industry, training the people who run cleaning businesses like it.
