Good morning, The Woodlands.
Woodlands Gymnastics Academy held its final competition last weekend, ending thirty years in a gym that a lot of families here called home.
In the same week, two families moved into their first Marble Creek homes.
That's the rhythm of a neighborhood: something ends, something begins, and most of us just go about our Saturday.
Glad you’re here,

A 30-Year Woodlands Gymnastics Legacy Is Closing Its Doors

Woodlands Gymnastics Academy, a family-owned gym that has trained thousands of recreational and competitive gymnasts over the past 30 years, will permanently close its doors after holding one final competition this past weekend. Owner Jason Waldon says the property's lease reached its end and the building's owners chose to bring in new tenants, who will also take over the adjacent trampoline park.
Waldon had looked for an alternate location to keep the business going. He found one building that met the specific requirements gymnastics facilities need for ceiling height, square footage, and structural support, but it is still under construction and would not be ready until February, leaving months of limbo between leases. "It's a very unicorn type building that this business requires," he said. The financial gap made it impossible to commit.
The timing left hundreds of gymnasts in a difficult spot mid-season. Many were in the middle of their fall competitive schedule; others were preparing for season openers in January. Families from Woodlands Gymnastics now find themselves competing for limited openings at surrounding gyms, some of which carry significantly higher monthly fees. Parent Vanessa Byrd summed it up: "Everybody's just kind of scrambling."
Why it matters: Three decades of community gymnastics, coaches, competitors, and the routines that anchored families' fall schedules, came to an end this weekend, leaving a gap that nearby programs will feel well into the season.

Habitat for Humanity's Marble Creek Is Open and Raising Funds

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County recently held a "State of the Build" update on its Marble Creek community, sharing that the project's first four homes are complete and two families have already moved in. The homeowners, Elizabeth and Nettaya, were celebrated at a dedication as they began new chapters with their families.
Fundraising is making steady progress. The organization has raised $6.1 million toward its $11 million goal, putting it at 55% funded. Executive director Vicki Johnson said the momentum has her optimistic about reaching the remaining $4.9 million: "Every gift brings us closer to opening the doors for more than 200 families."
A new "Hope Note" program invites donors who give online to leave a message in the comment section of the donation form. Habitat staff then handwrite the note on a card to be presented to a future homeowner at their home dedication. The artwork on each Hope Note card was created by Analy, the daughter of a Habitat homeowner in the Cedar Creek neighborhood in Conroe. Naming opportunities for streets, parks, and community features start at $5,000.
Why it matters: With 55% of a community of more than 200 affordable homes now funded and two families already settled in, Marble Creek is moving from a groundbreaking story into a living, growing neighborhood.

Ask ABR Houston What the Repair Costs. Alex Noll Will Tell You Why.
ABR Houston has built a reputation in The Woodlands as the go-to shop for European cars, and it stays that way by intentional design. Located at 8498 Miller Road, the business specializes exclusively in BMW, Rolls-Royce, Mini Cooper, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz. Owner Alex Noll believes focused expertise is what separates a repair that solves the problem from one that doesn't: "The most common mistake we see is people look at vehicles and think that any location can fix it. Unfortunately, with the technology in these newer vehicles, each brand needs a specialist."
The shop handles everything from routine maintenance and oil changes to complex diagnostic work and major mechanical repairs. Customers sometimes balk at the cost upfront, and Noll is candid about why European cars cost more to fix: the technology, the software, the parts, and the training to understand them all are simply more expensive. "People don't understand that the extreme engineering in their vehicles requires extreme knowledge and expensive parts," he said. "You're always gonna find a cheaper person, but you're not gonna find the best value and best repair other than here."
The business has earned enough trust to grow. ABR Houston recently opened a second location in Katy, and a third is already in the works. Even as the footprint expands, the focus remains on deepening what they deliver to each client. "We're trying to always raise the bar when it comes to our client services and value," Noll said. To schedule an appointment or learn more, visit abrhouston.com or call (832) 743-2662.
Why it matters: For anyone driving a European car in The Woodlands area, this is the kind of specialized shop that can be hard to find, and ABR Houston has been building that reputation one repair at a time.
